Elizabeth Reaser is an American television, film and stage actor, best known for her performances in movies like The Twilight Saga and series like Greys Anatomy and True Detective. On the Netflix Original series Roman Empire, she played Cleopatra. The actress also was in the film of cult status, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Jessica was picked for the role of The Outpost's main character, Talon. Producers received a demo tape that showed her performing and another tape where she did MMA. When she asked if she is able to do sword-fighting she immediately sent producers a brief video. Jessica was able to read the script, and was aware that the character needed weapons training. She recorded her first session with a professional after studying the script. Jonathan Glassner stated that they were amazed at Jessica's performance during her first training lesson. It was her first US big role, as she was previously in Australian movies. The role capitalizes on her passion for action with her mixed disciplines of horse riding, martial arts as well as weaponry skills and athletic skills that allow her to perform tricks and truly embody the strong female character. Jessica is a boxer who has been trained, muay Thai and a mixed martial artist. Jake Stormoen spotted an animal roaming the location of filming Season 4 while on set. The puppy had taken up residence on one of the set. Jessica fostered both puppies.
